Equinor, the energy company developing Empire Wind off the coast of Long Island (e.g., the wind power project), must survey certain streets and parking lots within the Village ofIsland Park in order to document and verify the locations of existing underground utilities.
The survey will utilize ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology beginning December 12, which involves the use of hand-held equipment to scan street surfaces. This survey work is non-invasive and will not require excavation or excessive noise. The planned survey work will be performed as shown in the attached map and on streets referenced in the attachment below.
